This car has halogen headlamps. In the UK, a halogen headlamp unit on a car first used on or after 1 April 1986 must not be converted to LED or HID bulbs: the MOT inspection manual (§4.1.4) treats a converted unit as a fail, however bright or well aimed it is. “Retrofit LED H7” bulbs sold for these cars are for off-road use. Halogen upgrade bulbs (+150% and similar) are legal because the unit is unchanged. Sidelights, indicators and number-plate LEDs are a separate question — E-marked LED versions of those are road legal.
What dipped beam bulb does the Peugeot 208 1st gen take?
H7. Verified — the source is shown on the card above.
Is the main beam the same bulb as the dipped beam?
No. The main beam is a H1, the dipped beam a H7. Buy them as separate bulbs.
Can I put LED bulbs in the 208's headlamps?
Not legally in a halogen unit — the MOT inspection manual treats a converted headlamp as a fail. Halogen upgrade bulbs are fine. Details in the legality section above.
What brake and tail light bulb does the Peugeot 208 1st gen use?
P21/5W. Applies to the standard halogen rear light cluster (dual-filament brake/tail bulb). Handbook describes a separate LED-tail-light-strip variant where the position light is LED and brake uses a single-filament P21W bulb in. A twin-filament bulb — one bulb does both tail and brake.
