This car has halogen headlamps. In the UK, a halogen headlamp unit on a car first used on or after 1 April 1986 must not be converted to LED or HID bulbs: the MOT inspection manual (§4.1.4) treats a converted unit as a fail, however bright or well aimed it is. “Retrofit LED H7” bulbs sold for these cars are for off-road use. Halogen upgrade bulbs (+150% and similar) are legal because the unit is unchanged. Sidelights, indicators and number-plate LEDs are a separate question — E-marked LED versions of those are road legal.
What dipped beam bulb does the Volkswagen Polo 6R/6C take?
H7. Twin-headlamp trims (2 round reflectors per lamp) use H7 dip + H7 main; single-headlamp base trims (1 oval reflector) use a combined H4 for dip/main instead - check by looking at the reflector.. Verified — the source is shown on the card above.
Is the main beam the same bulb as the dipped beam?
Yes — one H7 does both on this car. Same twin- vs single-headlamp split as dip beam; single-headlamp trims use H4 combined dip/main..
Can I put LED bulbs in the Polo's headlamps?

What brake and tail light bulb does the Volkswagen Polo 6R/6C use?
P21/5W. A twin-filament bulb — one bulb does both tail and brake.
